Chicken feet....

I was at the local Stop & shop yesterday (local=New London, CT in this case) As I was perusing the meat counter, I just stopped and stared. I'd never seen chicken feet packaged up for sale anywhere...much less the Stop & Shop. I asked the meat man if they have a lot of call for chicken feet and how would you prepare them? He explained they are wide variety ethnic grocery store...he doesn't eat 'em or cook 'em; he just sells 'em. Psst, I'd take a picture but I don't think that would be too cool, do you??

So here's recipe I found online just in case chicken feet is all that's left in your grocer's counter.

Chicken Feet Stew

2 pounds chicken feet
5 potatoes cut into eighths
4 onions, quartered
3 carrots, sliced
1 cup green beans
3 bay leaves
1 clove garlic, minced
Salt and pepper to taste

Cut nails, wash the feet. Place in a stockpot, cover with water.
Add potatoes, onions, carrots, green beans, bay leaves, salt and
pepper to taste. Simmer until tender. Remove bay leaves before
serving. 6-8 servings.

I don't think this will be included in my food experiments.

I forgot to ask...

Hehehe....so I guess I won't be ordering up any extras when you all come to visit, huh? I'm not aware of anything resembling meat on these things, Dru Ann, but then again, I can't say I got too close to them.
